About us

MIWE was founded in 1919 by Michael Wenz in the Franconian city of Arnstein, Germany, and produces baking technology for the global market at two locations in Germany. The company is well-known worldwide for its competence and experience in the areas of climate-controlled baking process stages (baking, refrigerating, proofing, freezing), automation technology, realisation of energy-efficient bakeries and plant construction.

As the inventor of in-store baking (at that time publicised as “sight and scent” baking), MIWE revolutionised the baked goods market from the 1970s onwards. Sabine Michaela Wenz, the third generation of the founder’s family, has been managing the growing company since 2002. With eight subsidiaries (in the USA, Canada, Austria, France, Italy, Singapore, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates) as well as 50 representative offices, MIWE is at home all over the world and therefore always close to its customers. The company has two major business areas: Bakery Processing Plants and Shop Baking Equipment

Bakery Processing Plants is focused on equipping production plants of all sizes with ovens, refrigeration units and loading systems. It also provides comprehensive planning expertise via MIWE smart engineering coupled with wide-ranging conceptual solutions in the area of energy management. MIWE energy has set itself the goal of sustainably reducing the energy consumption and lowering the CO2 emissions of bakery production plants.

The second business area, Shop Baking Equipment, is focused on in-store baking. Here too, conceptual approaches make an important contribution. MIWE offers its customers a wealth of expertise with the convenience stages of dough pieces and how to use them in-store with the most suitable baking technology, making it easier for customers to plan their sales concepts.
